IS IT OSTEOARTHRITIS?
The signs that don't deceive..
- Pain in the joint is triggered and aggravated by movement, ceasing or diminishing when the joint is at rest;
- Pain is less severe in the morning, increases during the day and is at its worst in the evening;
- Sensitivity of the joint when light pressure is applied;
- A feeling of discomfort in the joint following changes in temperature;
- Cracking", especially in cases of osteoarthritis of the knee;
- The progressive appearance of small bony growths (osteophytes) in the joint;
- More rarely, inflammation (redness, pain and swelling of the joint).
3 TIPS FROM THE PRONATUR LABORATORY :
1) Unlock your joints when you wake up. Joints become ankylosed at night, so before getting up, don't hesitate to wake up your joints, focusing on those that are causing pain. This can be done simply by flexing and extending or rotating the joint while still in bed, but self-massage with pressure applied more or less forcefully, depending on how you feel, is still the best way to go.
2) Think about Vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency is an aggravating factor in joint pain. Regular exposure of hands and forearms to the sun for around 30 minutes a day enables your body to produce the essential daily requirement (avoid the hottest periods). As the ability to produce Vitamin D diminishes with age, a suitable diet is strongly recommended.
3) Pain is often at its worst in the evening. Soothing the pain before going to bed is an obvious way to get a good night's sleep. Massaging or having a massage is the most natural solution.
