LES ALPILLES A VÉLO - THE AURELIA ROUTE IN THE VILLAGES OF THE ALPILLES AND PAYS D'ARLES!

Laboratoire PRONATUR is a partner of "La Voie Aurélia - Les Alpilles à Vélo". This event, a global concept promoting cycling for all, will take place on September 30, October 1 and 2, 2022 near Saint-Rémy de Provence in the commune of Saint Etienne du Grès.

A new art of living, tourism, sport, nature and heritage. An event supported by the Conseil Départemental 13, the Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles and the Communauté de Communes Vallée des Baux Alpilles.

The Voie Aurélia and the Vélo Loisirs tours in the Massif des Alpilles and Pays d'Arles will offer thousands of cyclists an unprecedented opportunity to visit the villages of the Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles in a whole new way.

From Saint Etienne du Grès onwards, all these villages enjoy a privileged location in the heart of the historic Provencal landscape.

First and foremost, the Voie Aurélia - Les Alpilles à Vélo event, part of the Arles Capitale Provençale de la culture 2022 program (a label awarded by the Conseil départemental 13), will be the starting point for a new approach to bicycle tourism in the Alpilles region and throughout the Pays d'Arles.

The "Voie Aurélia" event will also feature historical tours (Cyclostorique) and Gravel bike rides. Particular emphasis will be placed on the intangible heritage, Romanesque architecture, Provençal traditions, history and attractions of the territories crossed, always with the utmost respect for a unique environment and sustainable development. These walks are open to all, whether for tourism, sport and leisure, or just for a stroll with family or friends.

The main objectives of the event La Voie Aurélia - Les Alpilles à vélo :

- Highlighting regional cycle routes nearing completion, including direct communication between the Via Rhôna (Eurovélo 17), the Luberon and the Alps, as well as direct access to EuroVélo 8 (the Mediterranean by bike), which links Italy to Spain.

- The development of permanent cycle tourism itineraries for all cycling activities and all levels of ability.

- This strategic location will enable a significant influx of cycle tourists, either on their own or guided by specialized tour operators. The AF3V (Association pour le développement des Véloroutes et Voies Vertes) has clearly announced its interest in the project, and will be present at the event, along with the FF Vélo (Fédération Française du Cyclotourisme) and numerous partners from the cycle and related products sector. Also of note is the interest shown by Italian organizers of cycling events such as the Mitica.

- The interest shown in the project by regional elected representatives and tourism operators.

- The significant link that the project will initiate among all day-to-day bike users and cycling associations in the region and neighbouring areas.

As part of the cultural, social and sporting actions linked to the new economic concepts of sustainable development and the current considerable development of bicycle tourism, La Voie Aurélia - Les Alpilles à Vélo is already a global event from which all the communes it crosses can benefit. This is the intention of the organizers, the commune of Saint Etienne du Grès, the Green Cycling association and Top Vélo Magazine.
